About Steve Kawiecki

Hi, I’m Steve Kawiecki, MA, LMFT (A Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist practicing in Fishers, Indiana) with a passion and desire to help individuals, couples and families thrive in their relationships and in pursuit of their life goals. I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside all kinds of different people as they’ve faced life’s challenges, uncovered their strengths, and moved towards the lives they want to live.

My Approach

I don’t think people need to be “fixed” or “pathologized”.  Instead, therapy is most helpful when people feel supported, seen, noticed and given the tools to move through life more intentionally.  Whether we are exploring anxiety, improving communication in a relationship or navigating a challenging family dynamic, my approach will always be:

  • Relational – I will prioritize the quality of the therapeutic relationship.  Healing best happens in safe and connected spaces.
  • Collaborative – You’re the expert in your life.  I can bring therapeutic tools, insights,  resources and together we can build something meaningful.
  • Strength-Based – We will focus not just on what’s wrong, but also on what right and resilient about you and build from there.
  • Goal oriented – Whether you’re seeking relief, growth or change, we will clarify your goals and work steadily towards them.

My Philosophy

Therapy is a space where you can slow down, increase your awareness, get honest and make some meaningful changes.  I work with individuals, couples and families who are ready to improve communication, heal past wounds and reconnect with their goals and each other.

“Be Kind because everyone you meet is fighting a battle that you know nothing about.”

A little more about me

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the State of Indiana. I received my Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis, Indiana and also previously earned a Masters of Divinity degree from Truett Seminary at Baylor University in Waco, Texas. Prior to becoming a Marriage and Family Therapist, I served as an Associate Pastor for over 14 years at two churches in Kansas.

I am here for you.

During my training and experience thus far as therapist, I have had the privilege of working with clients in multiple settings ( a transitional shelter, a church, a medical center, a counseling center on a University campus as well as working with home based clients,) and I have learned that people, from all walks of life, cherish a context where there is safety, compassion, empathy, and challenge. I have worked with men, women and children, those struggling with relational conflict, life transitions, parenting concerns, work/life balance, grief, anxiety and depression and I have seen some changed and transformed lives in the process.

Some therapist are trained believing that they are the experts on your life, knowing what is best for you in any given situation, helping you solve your problems. That’s not me. I practice a collaborative style of therapy, that is strength based, and client and growth focused. I will offer you a space where I will treat you as a person and not as a problem. I will take your story, your struggle, your strengths, and your challenges seriously. I embody a style of therapy that is collaborative and conversational, strength based, and above all always client focused.
